Week 09 Reload

Greetings I’m Jonathan and I’m going to tell you what the leftovers have been up to the last seven days.

With the easter holidays behind us our team and with everyone refreshed we started with the final stages of our second sprint.

As these last two weeks is the only time we have left to implement new features.

That said that doesn’t mean we can’t improve on earlier implemented mechanics

Our programming team have been going over our existing code and improving where necessary.

To make the workflow more streamlined the programmer divided the tasks, whilst one would improve older code the other would work alongside our character artist to implement the spider underlings.

These little guys would scuttle around throughout the level keeping the player on their toes, for when they're not watching their step, it might end in a sticky situation.

Meanwhile the members of the sound team worked hard to find or otherwise compose the perfect soundtrack and sound effects. And with one of the programmers being part of this team implementing them went without a hitch.

Next up the groups RFX artist worked on finishing the boss spider and its particle effect. Digitizing it by building it out of cubes this Lovecraftian horror truly looks like it doesn’t belong.

At the same time the UI has received a neat little update. As the focus colour changed so did the font size get its long overdue improvement. But looks alone aren’t the only thing that have changed as the player can now start to gather the collectables that have been scattered throughout the game.

Last but not least, the player has a medium to interact and navigate throughout the game and spiders that will hinder their progress but what the player is lacking is a voice. Here comes our final artist and our groups voice actor lending their voice to the player to help them along the way.

Truly a lot has happened over this course and some changes of the original design also took place along the way, therefore the team worked on updating our art bible and tech document.

And with that said I’ll leave you

I am Jonathan and I’ll write you next week.
