Week 7 Checkpoint reached

Greetings I’m Jonathan and I’m going to tell you what the leftovers have been up to the last seven days.

Nearing the end of the first sprint the group focused on finishing as much as possible without lowering the quality.

For the programmers this meant fixing and resolving bugs and minor inconveniences and laying the groundwork for the second sprint.

For the artists this meant finishing up the intro level, finishing the player animations and beginning on each individual area.

But lets get a bit more in detail, the programmers layed the finishing  touches on the mechanics the player can use to manoeuvre throughout the levels, these being: cubes for pushing and pulling and the cables for climbing. Beside this the programmers have also started to lay the groundwork for the second sprint: scoreboard and the behaviour of any hostile entity’s the player might encounter.

The groups character artist worked this week on finishing the player’s animations and added in a level sequence to give the player a nice little entrance when they start the game. After she was done with these she joined the environmental team.

Next up the groups technical artist worked on implementing feedback on the particles and adding controller compatibility with the user interface. Allowing the player to navigate the user interface with mouse and game controller as they please. After all of this was implemented they to joined the environmental team.

With the amount of artists that would be working on the environment the group decided to spit the main level into area’s and assigning one artist to each area. This way each  artist knew what to be working on for the remainder or this week and the coming sprint.

So with the first sprint coming at a close I can truly say that it’s all coming together.

I am Jonathan and I’ll write you next week.
