week 8 Round two

Greetings I’m Jonathan and I’m going to tell you what the leftovers have been up to the last seven days.

With the end of the first sprint and with the start of the second sprint the development team started talking strategies to plan out the coming weeks.

Going from optimization, implementing the final mechanics and visual layout all tasks where mapped and assigned to optimize production.

This week the programmer team has put there focus on improving the load/save mechanics and implanting the score board data. Combined with the help of Nox’s technical artist the player is now able to see how well they do during there playthrough. Displaying the time the player takes to finish the level and how many time they have died, allowing them to witness there progress and motivating them to break there records on there next try.

To make the player character feel more alive Nox’s character artist has expanded in the animations and implementation of those allowing now the player to use there matchstick as a lever to solve certain puzzles that are spread throughout the levels.

Talking of wich the environmental team has been working on planning and building the main level of the game. Placing puzzles and filling it with eye candy. But with the size of this level the artists have split the main level in several sections allowing all the artist to be able to focus on there respective quadrants without interfering with the work of another artist. When all these sections have reached completion they like puzzle pieces will be placed back on there respective places.

We have talked about the implantation of the score menu on the main menu but let’s get more in depth with this. Instead of a static main menu the main menu has been expanded allowing the player the freedom to move around in it and navigate to the score and setting menu’s. in the score menu the player can find there death and time scores alongside a tab where they would eventually be able to see all the collectables that they have gathered from the levels. In the setting menu the player can now increase/ decrease the sound and brightness of the game allowing them to be able to tailer the game a bit more to there liking.

But with the first week of the second print coming at a close I’ll leave you here,

I am Jonathan and I’ll write you next week.
