week 5 ready start

Greetings I’m Jonathan and I’m going to tell you what the leftovers have been up to the last seven days.

After being given green light our team went in full production mode. Creating a clean project to signify the start of the project.

The first order of busines was dividing tasks and nominating responsibility. When everyone knew what to do the pipeline would work more smoothly.

Our groups programmer team has divided the workload evenly to make sure all the mechanics would be implemented in time. One programmer taking responsibility for the zipline, pulling/pushing of blocks and the climb mechanics whilst the other worked on the finite state machine, the characters movement and implementing the checkpoints.

Following the programmers lead our groups art team also divided the tasks splitsing most of the task in either assets,  level layout and user interfaces with the entire art team would work together to get the assets in place but more specific work was split up. One artist for the player character, two artists for the levels and one artist for the user interfaces.

Our character artist has been working hard on sculpting, texturing and rigging/animating the player character

Whilst the members of the level team each worked on there respected levels joining forced when the other needed assistance. With one working on the introduction level where the player is taught how to navigate the game and what dangers might lay ahead. The other worked on a design and the obstacles and puzzles the player will have to overcome to reach the end.

During this our UI artist worked alongside both the level team and the programmers to get a working splash screen, main menu, death screen and pause menu done

But individual work was not the only thing our team has been working on during the last seven days our team has also worked on implementing and reimplementing several assets from the prototype stage, like: materials, meshes and particles whilst adding new ones and also adding in blueprints

You can say that production is in full swing and with no sign of slowing down this development train is going strong

I am Jonathan and I’ll write you next week.
